Earlier this week was my father-in-law's birthday, so we packed up the girls and headed down the road to spend the day paddling on the Catawba River. We did the same thing last year and the girls just loved it!

May is here!
Well today was full of spontaneous adventure!
After waking up late, the girls decided they wanted pancakes for breakfast. So I busted out my kitchen skills and whipped up some Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes for RG and SJ. K decided it was late enough in the day to skip breakfast and jump straight into lunch. So everyone got ready, we loaded up the car, and hit the road to head to Chick-fil-a! On the drive over we discussed all the potential things we could do today. K never let on to what he wanted to do, he just jumped on the interstate and headed north.
Adventure number one was the Carolina Raptor Center. It is a facility in Huntersville that rehabilitates injured birds of prey (eagles, hawks, etc). They have a self guided nature trail that let's you see different birds that have injuries that prevent them from being released back into the wild.
SJ was our unofficial tour guide.

Two of the eagles shared names with the girls!
After we saw all the birds on display, we gave the girls the opportunity for a car nap and headed towards Fort Mill for the Strawberry Festival. When we got close we decided to skip it due to heavy traffic and large crowds. We opted instead for a local strawberry farm and went and picked about six pounds of strawberries, the girls played until they dropped, and I got a funnel cake and strawberry slushie! So, so good!
Looking for the perfect one!
Found it!
Funnel cake and slushie, living the life!
We picked up a pizza on the way home, did a quick bath time, and the babes fell asleep almost immediately! Today was definitely a fun-filled, random adventure day! Hope everyone else has a great weekend!
