AWARDS & GIVEAWAYS!!

Okay yall I am so thrilled. For multiple reasons!!

1) I won this AMAZING "Your blog is BREATH-TAKING" award from Sarah @ We're just like you only prettier!  If you don't read her blog you need to!! We joke that we are twins because we have so much in common!! so... a BIG thank you, Sarah for the award!!

Here are the questions that go along with the award:
1. What inspires you?  The little babies that I teach everyday... they inspire me to love better and to teach better.  They also remind me that there is a little child in us all ... or some of us maybe a LOT ha :)
2. What is your favorite season and why?  Well... you can pretty much take Sarah's answer and copy and paste it here. Except I'm not as cool as her because I don't have a drop top, sad day.  ha!  But really, I LOOOVE summer! I love spending time with my family and now that I am a teacher I just am so excited that I will get to really enjoy this time again. I have grow up going to my families beach house every year during the summer... such great memories there such as K proposing to me... swoon!
the day after he proposed!
 3. What are you most looking forward to this year? A new life... new adventures... and spending it with the ones I love the most!! And right now- spring break (at the beach hopefully) and summer ha! {seriously though}
relaxing and enjoying the sunset maybe!?
 4. If you could write a book about anything, what would it be about? Honestly, I  could never!  I am so ADD that I can barely sit still long enough to write a blog entry without being distracted. ha! If I did though, maybe funny quotes of my daddy and the fun slangs that he used to create... or so we thought he created... "Riders on the Storm!" haha

5.What is your greatest passion? LOVING the Lord by far is my GREATEST!  Even though I do not deserve it at all he loves and forgives me a million times over and over and over! Other than Him... it would be loving kids. And loving others- I'm not great at it I will admit but I do genuinely love people and am a huge people person!

 6. If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?  I would be less lazy and less self-conscious and less judgmental and critical of myself and others.  I have tons of room for growth here!
7.  Lastly, What is your favorite Novel? By far it has to be The Notebook and The Wedding.  Those books were sooo great and the Notebook was so way better than the movie its not even funny!! MMM romance!
okay I must admit just googling images for this I am now drooling over tons of photos and people who did engagement photos like this couple... maybe K & I can do this for our anniv or something... check this couple out at this post!  I am so jealous and will probably be watching this movie going to bed tonight. yup. :)

I am passing this lovely award on to

Kelly @ Happy Day World!
Sonja @ For the Love of Stilettos!
Danielle @ The Lenz Family!

miscellany monday!

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

go visit carissa and link up with us!

1) 4:45 am does not work for this lady. not. at. all.  I have been exhausted since I woke up and feel like at this point I am barely functioning!
as soon as I leave this lovely world I am going to attempt to catch some zzz's because tomorrow I will be up around the same time... why you ask?? well that leads me to number 2!

2)A BIG CONGRATS goes out to my amazing hubby who started his first day of work today!! I am so proud of him & love him so much!  This morning for some odd reason my body woke up at 4:45 for some odd reason & due to the fact that I knew K was going to be getting up within 30 minutes I could not for the life of me go back to sleep so I layed there until his alarm went off at 5:15 and got up.  Lets not forget to mention that we were up till around midnight last night.  I will not do this again on purpose...ever. ha! I do love that K has the (sorta)same schedule as me now!! Its great that we are up at the same time and FINALLY tired at the same time haha before his new job I was always wanting to go to bed at 10pm and he was just unwinding at that time... oh the joys!

3) Tonight for a celebration for the hubs we visited this yummy Hibachi (sp?) grill that is new to the area.  It was a nice treat with great company!! :)

4)I am so frustrated that I am behind on the Bachelor! I love that show but have not gotten into the swing of remembering to watch on Monday's!   At least I can watch online whenever I want and not be biting my nails for a week long waiting on the next episode right? haha

5)ZZZZZZZ's time :) yay!!

Confessions

There are some things that I feel like I need to get off my chest so to speak.  So this is going to be just that!

1)Although it bugs the mess out of me that K plays video games for hours on end with his friends "online,"... I find it extreamly awesome that they can play the same game and talk while doing it all through the xbox360.  I secretly wish that there were "games" that I could play on there with all my girlfriends while getting to chat it up.  Sounds amazing!!! (and yes, K will find this out for the first time reading my blog- which he does often!)

2) I have not been a very good housewife lately.  It seems since I started teaching that that is all I have time for these days.  I come home completely wiped out and exhausted and honestly I am too dang lazy to cook a meal.  I miss cooking for the hubs.and keeping the house clean.  One of my goals is to make a weekly meal plan and stick to it!

3)On cleaning-- I don't think I was ever very good at keeping a clean house even before I was married.  I was better at it back then because I only had the mess of one not two but this I admit is something I need to work on.  I am going to try and hop back on the FlyLady bandwagon- it really is a great SIMPLE plan to keep your house looking great if you just stick to it- and she emails you what you should be doing for the day/week.

4)I miss going to church every week at the same time and building community with those people we go to church with.  I am so excited about K's new job (='s better schedule) and pray that it will provide many opportunities in the near future for us to grow deeper, together, in the Lord and his will for our lives!

5) I am terrible at budgeting but I try... and I really do try... but I still stink at it.  Anyone out there have any miracles that I should try out? I waste so much time stressing about such things.

And now that I got that off my chest I am going to go clean this house and cook some dinner for my hubby!! Hope you have a great weekend! :) xoxo

****update****
after I posted this post I realized that Dandelion Wishes does "Friday Confessional"... nope its not Friday but thought it would be fun to link up anyways... this is my first time linking up! :)

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1) SOOO refreshing that we had the day off today!!

2)Very proud of my hubby for getting a new job!

3)dinner with friends (Kris and Erin) and then a fun run to Big Lots afterwards- felt like we were in high school again just roaming the store- :) such good times!

4) I am sooo ready for a day off with my hubby- pray that this will be Sunday! We haven't had a day off in what seems like ages because his current lame job doesn't give him ANY weekends off when one of the guys that works there gets EVERY weekend off.  Sorry- don't get me started- one reason I'm glad hes  done in 4 days!

5)lovvved catching up with my amazing friend Erin today- even though it was a short convo.  I miss her! :(

6)yay for the Bachelor nights... I finally have a trash show to watch ha! I'm loving both girls from Charlotte (particularily the one that got the first impression- loved her before that happened!) ps if you know the "spoilers" for this show- don't tell me! I hate people telling me they read a spoiler site that said "so-an-so" wins... um hello? did I ask?! haha

7)when can i retire? okay i'm out :)

link up :)

big news!

It seems as though I have been waiting FOREVER to share this big news with all of you! There are just certain people that we wanted to make sure knew *family* before we posted something online :)

(no I am not pregnant so you can stop sweating!) haha

The BIG NEWS is ................................that K got offered a job after his interview last week.  Thanks for all of your prayers & thoughts! It was a LITTLE intense- they made him have a physical, do a physical agility test, a drug test, and who knows what else... but hey- they called him the next day to offer him a job!!

He is going to be a merchandiser for the fifth largest Beer distributor in the country!  He will be in charge of setting up displays and such but not delivering.  This company has a greater potential for growth than where he was previously and hopefully the management will be a little LOTS more competent.

Hubs- I am so very proud of you and working hard for what you want!! You have such strong ethics and beliefs and I just love that about you! I love that you work hard whether or not you are in a job that you love or that you hate and whether or not it is your last week- you always give your ALL at EVERY thing that you do and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE that about YOU!! There are so many reasons I love you but those are just a few! Cheers to you baby! MUCH love!!
Your PROUD Wifey! :)
love u K!

PS- I have no idea if we will get discounts or free beer but that too would be a nice perk :)

Weekend Wrap Up!

This weekend K and I had a blasty blast! Take a look at the quick review :)

Friday:

Went to Grapevine, TX for some amazing wine testing... the waitress broke a glass at our table before we even had any wine so it was destined to be an eventful night :)
Here are some pictures from the wine bar D'Vine Wine
sorry the quality is yuck- you can thank the droid camera :)

Janna, K, Kendall, & Mel

Mel, Jake & I

Don, Jon, Janna, Kendall, Mel, Jake & I
After a little wine tasting we went over to a Mexican restaurant and enjoyed some delicious drinks and food! And some enjoyed a little old school gaming :)
Jake schooled K in PacMan (those are K's words!)

this is for my stepmom :) Love the Modelo :)
Saturday:

Had some great friends over to our place- they brought some pizza (Papa John's- our fav!) and we played a super intense game of Cranium!!
Guy's vs. Girl's and yessss the girls WON!!! :)
Too bad we didn't take any pics :( Thanks Kris and Erin for the company and food!!

Sunday:

Did nothing. K had to work :( So I did exactly nothing!

Well today is Monday... BUT its MLK day and for us that means NO SCHOOL!!! I can not tell you how amazing it was to wake up this morning at 5:30am, quickly freak out about having to go to work, wake up a little bit and realize that I didn't have to go to work today and then literally THANK GOD for a day off!!!! :) Too bad again K has to work. ugh.  I can not wait until we had a day off together!

Hope you are enjoying your Monday!

Are you ready?

Okay so this is HILARIOUS!! K even read it and was laughing out loud the entire time... I found this over at Stephanie's Blog-Many Reasons to Smile and she originally found it at Amy's Blog- Eat, Live, Laugh and Sometimes Shop .  I will go ahead and tell you -- if you are pregnant you might not want to read this... okay probably you do because it's too funny not to :)
ENJOY!!!

11 Step Program for those thinking of having kids:

Lesson 1

1. Go to the grocery store.
2. Arrange to have your salary paid directly to their head office.
3. Go home.
4. Pick up the paper.
5. Read it for the last time.

Lesson 2

Before you finally go ahead and have children, find a couple who already are parents and berate them about their...
1. Methods of discipline.
2. Lack of patience.
3. Appallingly low tolerance levels.
4. Allowing their children to run wild.
5. Suggest ways in which they might improve their child's breastfeeding, sleep habits, toilet training, table manners, and overall behavior.
Enjoy it because it will be the last time in your life you will have all the answers.

Lesson 3

A really good way to discover how the nights might feel...
1. Get home from work and immediately begin walking around the living room from 5PM to 10PM carrying a wet bag weighing approximately 8-12 pounds, with a radio turned to static (or some other obnoxious sound) playing loudly. (Eat cold food with one hand for dinner)
2. At 10PM, put the bag gently down, set the alarm for midnight, and go to sleep.
3. Get up at 12 and walk around the living room again, with the bag, until 1AM.
4. Set the alarm for 3AM.
5. As you can't get back to sleep, get up at 2AM and make a drink and watch an infomercial.
6. Go to bed at 2:45AM.
7. Get up at 3AM when the alarm goes off.
8. Sing songs quietly in the dark until 4AM.
9. Get up. Make breakfast. Get ready for work and go to work (work hard and be productive)

Repeat steps 1-9 each night. Keep this up for 3-5 years. Look cheerful and together.

Lesson 4

Can you stand the mess children make? T o find out...
1. Smear peanut butter onto the sofa and jam onto the curtains.
2. Hide a piece of raw chicken behind the stereo and leave it there all summer.
3. Stick your fingers in the flower bed.
4. Then rub them on the clean walls.
5. Take your favorite book, photo album, etc. Wreck it.
6. Spill milk on your new pillows. Cover the stains with crayons. How does that look?

Lesson 5

Dressing small children is not as easy as it seems.
1. Buy an octopus and a small bag made out of loose mesh.
2. Attempt to put the octopus into the bag so that none of the arms hang out.

Time allowed for this - all morning.

Lesson 6

Forget the BMW and buy a mini-van. And don't think that you can leave it out in the driveway spotless and shining. Family cars don't look like that.
1. Buy a chocolate ice cream cone and put it in the glove compartment.
Leave it there.
2. Get a dime. Stick it in the CD player.
3. Take a family size package of chocolate cookies. Mash them into the back seat. Sprinkle cheerios all over the floor, then smash them with your foot.
4. Run a garden rake along both sides of the car.

Lesson 7

Go to the local grocery store. Take with you the closest thing you can find to a pre-school child. (A full-grown goat is an excellent choice). If you intend to have more than one child, then definitely take more than one goat. Buy your week's groceries without letting the goats out of your sight. Pay for everything the goat eats or destroys. Until you can easily accomplish this, do not even contemplate having children.

Lesson 8

1. Hollow out a melon.
2. Make a small hole in the side.
3. Suspend it from the ceiling and swing it from side to side.
4. Now get a bowl of soggy Cheerios and attempt to spoon them into the swaying melon by pretending to be an airplane.
5. Continue until half the Cheerios are gone.
6. Tip half into your lap. The other half, just throw up in the air.

You are now ready to feed a nine- month-old baby.

Lesson 9

Learn the names of every character from Sesame Street , Barney, Disney, the Teletubbies, and Pokemon. Watch nothing else on TV but PBS, the Disney channel or Noggin for at least five years. (I know, you're thinking What's 'Noggin'?) Exactly the point.

Lesson 10

Make a recording of Fran Drescher saying 'mommy' repeatedly. (Important: no more than a four second delay between each 'mommy'; occasional crescendo to the level of a supersonic jet is required). Play this tape in your car everywhere you go for the next four years. You are now ready to take a long trip with a toddler.

Lesson 11

Start talking to an adult of your choice. Have someone else continually tug on your skirt hem, shirt- sleeve, or elbow while playing the 'mommy' tape made from Lesson 10 above. You are now ready to have a conversation with an adult while there is a child in the room.
