need a good laugh?

i don't know about you but this week has been a major drag...
this week is like major TAKS (state standardized test) week for 3rd, 4th and 5th.  well, I don't teach any of those grades but let me tell you- i almost wish i were.  we have basically been on "silent lockdown" mode yesterday and today and its about to make me insane! oh and did I mention we don't get to have recess or go to specials?????!!!! yeah, and try keeping 20 7,8, and 9 year old's SILENT for an entire day.... oh man. tomorrow I have a sub for the day and I am taking my PPR exam (prayers are happily welcomed) to complete my certification.  I feel bad for the sub tomorrow but better her than me at this point ha!

anyways, to say i need a GOOD laugh... like a good, BELLY laugh, is an understatement.
when I saw this video I LOST it completely... it is hysterical! ENJOY and I hope this makes your week a little more enjoyable! :)

ps- the more you watch it the more you will laugh along.
pps- this video really makes me want a dog AND a baby... and I'm getting one of the two! eeee! makes me so happy to think I will have my own little one of these in just a few short months! :-D

16 Weeks! 4 Months! Oh, Yeah!

16 Weeks or 4 months... April 18th-24th
(post 2 days late...oops!)
Here is what we have been up to this week:

Weight Gain:  had my dr. apt yest (16w1d) and I am still down 6 lbs... she was a little concerned that I was eating... um hello, that's all I do!

Maternity Clothes : yes, the few I have, I love! I could certainly get used to these comfie clothes!

Sleep: Still sleeping great! Wake up around 5am for the restroom but 9times out of 10 I'm too sleepy to get up so I fall back asleep and get up around 6ish
Best Moment of this week:  we found out we are having a GIRL!!!! and being 4 months along!! so awesome! Having my first prenatal massage on Saturday was amaaazing!

Movement: still waiting patiently... some friends who are around the same number of weeks are starting to feel baby... :)

Food cravings:  burgers! I think I am finally getting my appetite back, horray!! Also, I am able to eat some mexican food again- just my normal quesadilla-- but before anything too big sounded horrible... kids meals are still my bff's :) Also, sweets are starting to sound reaaalllly yummy-esp chocolate (this might kill help the weight situation)

What I miss: right now nothing! I finally am starting to feel like myself again-- being able to stay up later and not being completely exhausted 100% of the time.
Symptoms: headaches still-- doc said totally normal and to just deal :-/ ,  cramping when I am rolling over (in the abdomen- I forget what they call that), my legs- calf's, feet, etc, have started cramping up during the night when I get to moving... I guess I need to eat some more banana's. , getting my appetite back some, getting some energy back.

Gender: shes a girl! shes a girl! shes a GIRL!!! :)

What I'm looking forward to: feeling the little princess moving around :)
 Baby bump: 4months (16weeks)
is it just me or do i look huge for only 16 weeks?!

The Baby in week 16:
Your baby now weighs in at a whopping three to five ounces, and he's four to five inches in length. The bones that are now in place in his ears means he can probably hear your voice as you talk to your partner and pals and sing in the car. While he’s getting used to your voice, the tiny muscles in his body, especially the ones in his back, are gaining strength, so he can straighten out a little more. And thanks to his developing facial muscles, your baby is capable of making a few expressive frowns and squints, even at this early stage. (Don’t worry, those frowns have nothing to do with the sound of your voice!) And his eyes are finally working, making small side-to-side movements and perceiving light (although the eyelids are still sealed). Peekaboo!

Your body in week 16:
It's hard to watch yourself gain weight during pregnancy, even when you know there's a wonderful reason for it. The challenge, though, is to try to embrace your body's new shape and think of every pound you put on as a sign of good health for you and your baby. As long as you eat right during pregnancy (minimize junk and maximize nutrient-dense foods) and get regular exercise, you'll be fine in the long run. Remember, every woman is different and gains (and loses) at her own pace. One way to show your changing shape some love this week and feel better about yourself in the process: Buy a garment (or accessory) that makes you feel pretty at your new size (and don't forget to buy underwear that fits!). Another part of you that’s swelling — the membranes in your nose, leading to congestion.

15 Weeks! & 1st bump PHOTO! :)

YAY! 15 weeks! April 10-17

Here is what we have been up to this week:

Weight Gain:  none yet ... still below pre-preg weight...I'm sure it will all catch up to me eventually ha!

Maternity Clothes
: a mix but I sure enjoy my mat. clothes and "letting it show" at work, now that everyone knows. ha! I still feel that sometimes I am trying to hide my belly bc it still doesn't quite feel like a bump... just like a gut lol

Sleep:
I am sleeping great- no complaints here.  Still love my sleep and will take all I can get-- in fact I slept for about 9 hours last night, got up for 2 hours and then took a 3 hour nap! ha oh the life on the weekend!

Best Moment of this week:
Well, totally unrelated... but K insists that I put this on here-- K won his championship game for soccer! WAHOO! so proud of my man!!!!!!! :-D...
baby-wise: one week closer to finding out the gender ?

Movement:
nope, but I'm not really spending much time looking for it either...my tummy makes all sorts of movements after I eat but it also makes noises so therefore, that isn't the baby ha

Food cravings:
Salt & Vinegar chips, and just eating light meals in general.  Sweet things are still TOO sweet for me.  I would much rather fruit! Oranges, strawberries or anything!

What I miss:
still lacking energy but that might be changing? i was able to stay up super late 2 nights ago (my best friend was in labor with her first baby!) and i didn't completely die at work the next day... so who knows.

Symptoms: HEADACHES!! oh my goodness! The first 5 days of this week I have had terrible headaches.  Extra Strength Tylenol didn't even help a little.  The only thing that has helped even a tiny bit is a soda.  I have drank approx 1 a day since then to help avoid this.  My blood pressure is really low which is good because that was something we were worried about with the headaches.  These could also be partly due to stress as some life decisions are constantly consuming my mind.  My neck has been super tight and sore too.  I think a pre-natal massage is in the agenda for me soon!
Acne... wow, on my back, neck, face, chest, everywhere... I never had acne as a teenage but boy do I feel for those kids now!

Gender:
Ill let you choose this week- vote at the top right of my blog.  Right now we are 9 for boy and 7 for girl... almost 50/50! so close! I am dyyyying to know NOW! ha

What I'm looking forward to:
(still true...) just dying to know the gender. :)
***don't forget to GO VOTE on what the gender is on the top right of the blog***

 THE BABY BUMP PIC!!!!!!
Ohhh..... and here yah go... I am finally going to cave and post a pic of "the bump!" :)
We had picture day at school and everyone noticed the bump!  I still feel like its just a gut but I guess others can see it better than me. here is a pic from Thursday!

The Baby in week 15:
One way to deal with the havoc of pregnancy hormones: Focus on how much is happening with your baby. She's about the size of an orange this week, her ears have migrated to the sides of her head, and her eyes are moving to the front of her face. Plus, your little smarty-pants can now wiggle her fingers and toes and make breathing movements in preparation for life outside the womb.

Your body in week 15:

Pregnancy hormones are pretty rough on your body, especially the teeth and gums, causing inflammation and making them more susceptible to plaque and bacteria. Your formerly healthy gums may have become super-sensitive and prone to bleeding. (yup, every time I brush my teeth!) In addition, you might be coping with a chronic stuffy nose (yes) or even nosebleeds during pregnancy, also brought on by progesterone surging through your system. Fear not — it'll all pass. (Thank you very much! haha)

is it just me?

warning: this post might sound like I'm complaining too much but hey, this is my space to vent and be real.  so there.  if you want to stop now you can ha! I hope you don't though! :)

Today has just sorta turned into one of those days.  Really, at school things were great but I feel like the pregnancy hormones are REALLY starting to kick in...

Today is day 4 of a constant headache.  Some moments are worse than others but none the less its been there- constantly looming over me.  I have taken the full dose of extra strength Tylenol and nothing has helped.  I have drank 64 gallons ounces of water and no effect.  The only thing that has SLIGHTLY helped is a soda.  It's a little frustrating but I'm dealing none the less.

Today, I feel the emotions... I feel them running deep in me.  I feel like I am going to cry at the drop of a pin.  I realized that I couldn't have my leftover sushi for dinner because it was no longer fresh and I wanted to cry (yes, my doc. said I could have it- don't hurt me or hurl insults!).  We got a very GENEROUS gift in the mail today-- a video from our wedding from a professional videographer and they didn't charge us (it was the DJ's videographer filming to make a promo for their company-- and when our videographer TOTALLY dropped the ball-- and couldnt figure out what was "wrong with their footage"-- and why it kept crashing their computers-- we were out a DVD. )... thats another story really for another day, but as I was saying-- we got a free DVD of our wedding reception in the mail today and watched less than 5 of the 57 minutes when the DVD stopped playing and we realized it was scratched majorly, yes, I wanted to cry!!

Please, ya'll -- tell me these are the hormones and this is totally normal.  I feel like a huge baby!  And I have to keep reminding myself that this is all that really matters in my life right now, along with God and my family:

thanks for making it to the end of this post and still loving me.  be careful what you comment... I just might cry! LOL :) LOVE ya'll!

14 Weeks

Well yesterday marks 14 weeks! April 3-9

I am so glad that time is moving right along because I am dying to know the sex of our yy and to maybe get some of my energy back (or maybe that is just wishful thinking?) ha!

Here is what we have been up to this week:

Weight Gain:  I am still down several pounds which my doc said is okay as long as I am still in fact eating ha!

Maternity Clothes: yes, I finally have a couple of pairs of pants that I actually enjoy wearing, shirts for the most part are not maternity. yet.

Sleep: good, I fall asleep pretty easily and besides getting up to go to the restroom I am sleeping right through the night.  I can't seem to get enough sleep.
Best Moment of this week:  in our 4th MONTH!!!
& no news on the ultrascreening which is a good sign.  My kids finally know along with the rest of the teachers I work with-- now I'm not worried about trying to hide the "bump" ha

Movement: we saw last week on the ultrasound but I still have no idea what it actually feels  like so no.

Food cravings:  I have no idea but I seem to be eating subs a lot this week

What I miss: my energy.

Gender: I'm totally on the fence.  No clue but I am going to stick with my gut- girl.

Weekly Wisdom: Just trying to enjoy still being able to get around comfortably, sleep comfortably, etc.

What I'm looking forward to: just dying to know the gender. :)

The Baby in week 14:
Now the size of your clenched fist, your baby is more fluid-like in his movements, so he’s no longer doing the jerk every time he repositions his arms and legs. Other developments this week include a roof of his own (inside his mouth, that is) as well as intestinal activity: His intestines are producing meconium (which is the waste that will make up his first bowel movement after birth). He is also sporting a downy coating of hair (lanugo) that keeps him nice and warm. Not to worry — you won't give birth to a monkey; baby fat will accumulate over the next few months and take over the function of keeping your baby warm and toasty —allowing most of that hair to shed.

Your body in week 14:
Welcome to the second trimester! With any luck, your breasts aren't quite as tender as they were last trimester and your energy level is making a comeback. More good news on the horizon: less morning sickness and fewer trips to the potty to pee. You might find yourself feeling pregnancy aches on the lower sides of your abdomen about now as the muscles and ligaments that support your growing uterus stretch. And though it might be a pain in the — well, lower abdomen — it's pain with a gain and a sign that it won't be long now until your body finally starts to show that you're expecting.

13 Weeks

oops! I totally missed the update last week and didn't even take a pic of the belly bump... oh well not much has changed on the outside ha! :)

anyways, for the updates: short and sweet!

Week 13: March 27- April 2

We had our ultra-screening on March 28th-- When I first went in she couldn't find the baby bc it was SO low so she had me use the restroom and then found the little one right away-- still very low.  The baby measured 6cm's and had a heart rate of 163.  She also noted that the baby had a pointed nose bone, indicating the chance for down's syndrome was lowered.  All tests and blood work were sent off and she said no news is good news- we have heard nothing. :)  I begged to have her look for the sex but she refused.  She said it was too early- not to mention that we could only see the baby's profile and the umbilical chord was stuffed between the legs.  The baby was moving its legs and swinging its arms up by its face.  K asked if it was sucking its thumb and she said not yet probably just bringing the arms up by the head. The little pumpkin was also bouncing up and down thrusting its belly up into the air.  It was so neat the little one moving!

The baby in week 13:
What's up with your baby? Well, besides being as large as a peach now, that big old noggin of hers is now about half the size of her crown-to-rump length (that’s one reason why your little peach looks more like an alien from outer space at this point). By the time you give birth, her body will catch up, measuring three-quarters of her total size. What else is going on in there? Tiny bones are beginning to form in her arms and legs, the intestines are beginning to move from the umbilical cord to the abdomen, and the vocal cords are well under construction (the first step toward saying, "I love you, Mommy!"). And because she can move her arms and legs in a jerky fashion, she may be able to get her thumb into her mouth (a habit that may come in handy for self-soothing when she’s a newborn).

Telling my 2nd Graders!

For the past several weeks I have been really looking forward to sharing our BIG news with my kids!  I just wanted to wait until I was a little further along and the layoff wave was temporarily over.

Finally, after lots of considerations about how to go about telling them, I decided on my way to let the news out.  Instead of just telling them I decided to make it into a game (they love games!)  The game was 20 questions-- where they are to ask me yes or no questions until they figure it out. I told them on Wednesday that I had a BIG surprise for them on Thursday so you can image all day long Thursday they kept asking.  I didn't let the game begin until they were packed up and it was near time for the bell to ring.  Wednesday some of the kids guessed that we were having a popsicle party (they were very disappointed when I responded with a noooo!)

So Thursday afternoon, the game begins.  I got great questions-- does it have to do with school? does it have to do with next year? your going to teach third grade!? and they kept on.  They finally narrowed it down that it had nothing to do with work/school and that it only had to do with my personal life.  Then the guesses started to flow-- your birthday? k's birthday? your anniversary? your getting married? (hello-- you all know my husband lol) etc.  It was so fun watching them all gaze at me with mystery and excitement dying to know! FINALLY, one of the girls guessed: "you're going to have a baby?!" and I SHOUTED YESS!!! and they ALL scrrrrreamed!!! (other teachers next door knew what I was doing and they said they heard the screams! ha)  I was quickly tackled with warm hugs of excitement and bombarded with the questions of was it a boy or a girl and when was I due!?  It was so fun and finally all my anxiety and nervousness about telling them left me and I was filled with the joy of a child!

The bell rang seconds later, and before I let them leave I explained that the only other people that knew were the teachers on our team and that this was their news- and they were to tell anyone they wanted to tell! Oh were they so thrilled!!! They went running out of my room screaming at the top of thier lungs (which is very loud for 8 year olds), "MY TEACHER IS HAVING A BABY!!" It was so much fun and a moment I will never forget and I hope they never forget either!

[ps i wish i could post a picture of their sweet little faces on here but for now you will just have to imagine]
