Week 12

Week 12: March 20-27
size: plum!

Weight Gain:  so far none-- I might have even lost a little :)

Maternity Clothes:I FINALLY spent  the day yesterday shopping with my friend Laura and I found a couple of cute new things at Old Navy... I am still in desperate need of work pants but I feel like I'm still not quite big enough for most mat. pants.

Sleep: pretty good- getting up once to go to the restroom.

Best Moment of this week:  the fact that this week is over... not a good week @ work- just stressful. Completing the FIRST TRIMESTER!!

Movement: I still cant feel it but I'm hoping to SEE it on Tues.

Food cravings:  fruits I guess... still ready for my appetite to get back to "normal"

What I miss: my energy

Gender: I had a dream last night that we did the genetic testing and i saw a baby BOY on the monitor.

Weekly Wisdom: Drink water- I am not doing a good job and headaches are not fun.

What I'm looking foward to: our dr's apt on Tuesday and the Genetics testing... maybe finding out gender if baby cooperates!! :) pray baby does! So excited for this apt!

Your Baby in Week 12:  By now, your baby weighs a full half-ounce and is about the size of a large plum. Most of his systems are in place, though there's still plenty of maturing to do. For one thing, his fetal digestive system is beginning to practice contraction movements necessary for eating, and his bone marrow is busy making white blood cells — weapons against germs once he's out of your safe haven. The pituitary gland (at the base of the brain) has started producing the hormones that'll enable him (or her) to make babies of his (or her) own in a couple of decades or so.

Your Body in Week 12:   If all those changes in your baby sound dizzying, that may just be you dealing with yet another problematic pregnancy symptom: Lots of women experience occasional dizziness and/or feel faint due to progesterone, which causes increased blood flow to your baby by relaxing your own blood vessels. The decrease in blood flow to your body and brain, along with typically lower blood-sugar levels during pregnancy, can set your world a-spinning. Do your part to keep your equilibrium by eating regularly, getting adequate rest, and standing up slowly.

  1. So they say that all women are different in pregnancy...and I completely agree...but yet, I feel like I could write the same update, ha! :)

I've lost weight as well and my appetite is somewhat coming back...like you said, fruit is about the only thing that tastes normal. The aversion have been worse than the nausea. I just started using a hairband to give my jeans a little give due to the crazy bloating. I tried on a small pair of maternity pants and it's like I was almost there...but not quite. I'm thinking a couple weeks and they will be heaven! Try a warm rice pad with your headaches...that's the only thing that seems to help when I get one. I found mine at Kohl's.

So excited to read about your journey through your pregnancy! :)
